The year-on-year (y-o-y) drop in revenues in September 2021 deepened the lag behind the pre-pandemic levels in industry to 9.4% and in construction to 20%, the Statistics Office reported. Moreover, revenues in selected market services failed to regain the level seen in September 2019, too. The y-o-y fall of revenues in industry deepened by 3 percentage points (p.p.) to 9.3%. Industry saw a y-o-y fall for the second month in a row, following six months of growth. Following the August growth, construction showed a y-o-y decrease in sales by 2.1%.
Meanwhile, three other sectors of the economy reported growth in revenues in September. These were transport and warehousing with revenues going up by 6.4% y-o-y, information and communication activities by 8.2% and in selected market services by 0.6%. The first two sectors exceeded the pre-pandemic levels in September, while selected market services slightly lagged behind the figure seen in September 2019 (by 2.3%).
In a monthly comparison, revenues for own goods and services in transport and warehousing went up by 2.2% in September and those in industry rose by 1.8%. Revenues in selected market services remained at the level of August 2021. Meanwhile, revenues in construction decreased by 4.5%, while those in information and communications activities dropped by 1.4%.
In the first nine months of the year, revenues for own goods and activities in industry rose by 10.5% y-o-y, mainly thanks to increases in revenues in the production of transport devices - 11.2%, in the production of metals - 16.9%, and in the production of machinery and equipment - 21.4%.
