In the face of the worsening epidemiological situation, Slovakia has found itself at a crossroads where difficult decisions must be made, President Zuzana Caputova declared on Tuesday. Caputova added that at this stage, it’s not a political decision but a matter of survival.
"We're facing catastrophic developments in hospitals and the only way to reverse it, at least partially, is with targeted measures aimed at slowing down the spread of the virus and fundamentally speeding up vaccination. It holds true even today that the longer we keep postponing this the more it will hurt us later on down the road," she added.
The President pointed out that the primary task of the state is to protect the lives and health of its citizens. Hence, she urges politicians to put this duty ahead of their political disputes.
