The state will introduce cuts to pandemic-related sickness benefits, with an aim to equalising COVID-19 with other illnesses, which means that a person who contracts the novel coronavirus will receive the same sickness benefits as people suffering from other illnesses, Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) stated at a press briefing on Tuesday.
"There are many other illnesses that plague people and they have no choice. Whether it is oncological diseases or those of any other variety, they receive the standard sickness benefits. Therefore, we decided to restore the COVID-19 sickness benefits back to the standard level, because we now have the means to protect ourselves from COVID-19, we have the vaccine, and we're in a completely different situation. This is why the sickness benefits will be equalized for everyone," he claimed.
