On Monday, academic painter, graphic artist and illustrator Miroslav Cipár passed away at the age of 86. The artist was present at the birth of the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava and the Triennial of Naive Art. He also played an important role in the events of November 1989, being one of the founders of the Public Against Violence movement and one of the protagonists of the so-called Velvet or Gentle Revolution, which ended the rule of the communist, Soviet-led totalitarian regime in the former Czechoslovakia.
