“The pandemic situation in Slovakia will certainly not improve by Christmas,” said the head of the Health Ministry's Health Analyses Institute Matej Misik on Sunday, adding that it is deteriorating faster than experts originally expected. Misik pointed out that some hospitals are already reaching their maximum capacities. Nonetheless, not all statistics provided by the hospitals are reliable. The record number of people with COVID-19 admitted to hospitals on Saturday (November 6) standing at 454 was caused by an erroneous report from Nove Zamky University Hospital, as TASR reports. The hospital itself admitted this. The day before, it admitted only 18 patients with Covid.
Meanwhile, the mass vaccination centre at the National Football Stadium in Bratislava reopened on Saturday. The Bratislava self-governing region run centre administered the third booster shot against COVID-19 to about 1,400 people. The average age was 80 years. The vaccination centre at the stadium is inoculating first of all seniors over the age of 55 and people with reduced immunity.
