Prosecutor General to use power whenever needed

Prosecutor-General Maros Zilinka declared on a social network on Thursday that he would use paragraph 363 of the Penal Code every time the law calls for it. Zilinka responded in this way to Justice Minister Maria Kolikova, who claimed earlier in the day that the Prosecutor-General should not exercise paragraph 363 [the power to annul unlawful decisions of investigators and prosecutors- ed.note] to such an extent. The Prosecutor General wrote that he “will apply the paragraph 363 of the Penal Code, and the power it invests in me to annul decisions in pre-trial, every time when I discover that the decisions made by the prosecutor or police officer have violated the law". He added that he would do so regardless of the number of instances because "it is the legal obligation and not an option" of the Prosecutor-General.
Zilinka also assured the public that when it comes to redressing unlawfulness, he would never be intimidated or influenced by anything and anyone.
