President meets Slovak students in Scotland

“Slovak students represent Slovakia abroad very well,” Slovak President Zuzana Caputova posted on a social network after meeting some of them in Edinburgh, Scotland on Wednesday. She also said that when asked whether the Slovak students ever plan to return home, their answer did not exactly inspire optimism. The majority of them plan instead to stay abroad and only a minority would consider returning home. According to the Slovak president, it is not just the salaries and many work-related benefits that Scotland offers that makes young Slovaks stay. Many of them mentioned the lack of tolerance in Slovakia, the great influence of disinformation campaigns and the fragile political situation. The President underlined that Slovakia has been aware of its brain drain problem for many long years, but "we still haven't arrived at an efficient solution to turn it around".
