Approximately 5,000 bicycle parking spots could be created in Slovakia, mainly in the vicinity of railway stations, Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) said in Kosice on Wednesday while presenting Slovakia's Recovery and Resilience Plan. The recovery plan offers €105.1 million for the construction or reconstruction of cycling infrastructure. The premier also called for the readiness to draw money, as a call from the Transport Ministry could be announced early next year. Cities and municipalities, regions, and organisations established by the municipality or region will be able to apply for money from the Transport Ministry's call. A civic association called KE.CY - Kosice cycle routes also perceives an increased interest in cycling, however, as Zoran Bosak emphasised on behalf of the association, the availability of extensive, fast and safe cycling infrastructure in the city lags behind.
