The Environment Ministry supports and welcomes the declaration of world leaders at COP26 in Glasgow on Tuesday, concerning the halting of global deforestation and land degradation. According to the ministry, the declaration emphasises the importance of forests and land use for achieving the goals of sustainable development and the need for their sustainable management. "Healthy and resilient forests are a key ally in the fight against the climate crisis," said the ministry.
They also drew attention to another message from the leaders' declaration, that a change in the agricultural policy of states is also necessary for the fulfilment of climate goals and the preservation of biodiversity. "It's important to stop using unnecessary agricultural chemistry and dangerous pesticides," said the ministry, adding that agriculture should also create space for biodiversity and honey meadows, and support extensive grazing in protected areas.
