To mark the UN Climate Summit 2021, a number of buildings in Bratislava are being lit green on Monday and Tuesday (November 1 & 2). British Ambassador to Slovakia Nigel Baker praised the activity, saying that “it's a very encouraging signal from many walks of Slovak society, including the Government, academia, cultural, media and business spheres and others, that they care about the protection of the planet." The green lighting has been used for the Presidential Palace, Government Office, Slovak National Theatre, Comenius University and Nova Cvernovka, all in Bratislava, as well as buildings in Trnava, Trencin, Zilina, Nitra, Ruzomberok, Banska Bystrica, Banska Stiavnica, Kosice and Bojnice Castle. Environment Minister Jan Budaj (OLaNO) claimed that, in order to save energy, the ministry hasn't used lights but has resorted to using green sheets instead.
