Ukraine to succeed Slovakia in presidency of Danube Strategy

Ukraine will take over the presidency of the Danube Strategy when Slovakia’s presidency comes to an end. Slovakia's priorities during the annual presidency were to improve cooperation, climate challenges, biodiversity protection, digitization and innovation. This according to press department of the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatization (MIRRI) of the Slovak Republic. According to the head of the ministry, Veronika Remišová (For People), the strategy got its second wind during the Slovak presidency.

According to the ministry, one of the outcomes of the Slovak presidency is a document called From Words to Action. It contains a proposal for the development of tools for incorporating the objectives of the Danube Strategy into practice. The Danube Strategy brings together 14 countries – 9 from the EU (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Slovakia) and 5 from outside the EU (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Moldova and Ukraine).
