Slovak authorities have identified 36 victims of human trafficking in the first nine months of 2021, TASR learnt from Michaela Paulenova of the Interior Ministry's press department on Monday, on the occasion of EU Anti-Trafficking Day. Of the 36 victims identified by September 30, 16 were men (including three children) and 20 were women (including eight children). "They included 34 Slovak citizens and two foreigners from Vietnam. The traffickers abused the victims sexually, in order to film pornography, for forced labour, or they forced their victims to enter into an involuntary marriage with a stranger, and they didn't shrink even from various combinations of abuse," noted Paulenova. Men were trafficked mainly for the purpose of forced labour, and, in one case, to commit crime. Sexual exploitation or forced prostitution predominated among female victims. According to the Interior Ministry, one third of the identified victims were exploited in the United Kingdom, which is the most common country in which Slovak victims are exploited.
