The former finance minister and current governor of Slovakia’s central bank, Peter Kažimír, has been charged with bribery, the aktuality.sk media outlet reported on Tuesday. The charges are reportedly linked to a 50,000 euro bribe to then-head of the Financial Administration, Frantisek Imrecze. Kažimír allegedly acted as a "courier". Imrecze, who is accused in several cases and is cooperating with the police, gave testimony to this effect. In reaction to the accusation, Kažimír sent the following statement to the media: "I do not feel guilty of any crime. The claims made in the resolution are untrue and any tangible evidence absent. I have no information, I am not aware of any violation of the law, and I have never had any interest in influencing any proceedings."
