On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Alexander Dubcek's birth, Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok visited the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod on Tuesday, where Dubcek spent part of his youth. He unveiled a memorial plaque there and planted a memorial oak, announced the Ministry's Communications Department. By attending the event, Korcok said, he confirmed that despite the persisting differences with the Russian Federation on fundamental issues of international politics, a large part of Slovak citizens feel a positive emotion towards the Russian people. “And I see no reason not to notice this positive emotion,” the minister stated.
