The investigation of one the biggest scandals of the first government of Robert Fico has been closed. The Office of the Prosecutor General stated it definitively did not find evidence of a crime being committed in the case of emissions.
“The circumstances of this deal, which may appear as disadvantageous for Slovakia, do not have to be and, at the same time, are not a crime since the damage caused to Slovakia cannot be determined unequivocally and objectively,” said spokesperson of the Prosecutor General Jaromír Čižnár. Former interior minister Daniel Lipšic, currently from the opposition, pointed out that the minimum damage can be quantified at €47 million. This is the difference between the price at which Slovakia sold the emissions to the company Interblue and the price at which the company sold them on to Japan.
