Foreign Minister to initiate changes in purchase of real estate by foreign countries

The acquisition of real estate by foreign states is to undergo legislative changes. These will be initiated by the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry in cooperation with the relevant ministries. First, however, the Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Office will issue an instruction to all cadastral offices in the coming days to inform as of October 15 the relevant state authorities, including the Foreign Ministry, that they are acting on a deposit of ownership of any foreign state to any real estate in Slovakia. Foreign Minister Korcok drew attention to the acquisition of agricultural land and real estate during this week's visit by his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto in Bratislava. The Hungarian government has recently set up a fund to support Hungarian farmers in purchasing arable land in surrounding countries, including Slovakia.
