38 Districts have a high level of COVID community spread

According to Health Analysis Institute, there is a high level of community spread of novel coronavirus in 38 districts. The Insitute's head Matej Misik noted that in five districts, the positivity of PCR tests is higher than 25 percent. The number of trips made by ambulances to positive patients increased again, especially in the Zilina, Kosice and Presov regions. Hospitals in Zilina region reach a 30-percent occupancy rate compared to the maximum from the previous wave. According to Misik, the reason for the deteriorating epidemic situation is weddings and celebrations to which people travel across Slovakia in combination with low vaccination rates in the affected areas.

Due to the deteriorating pandemic situation in Slovakia, the Public Health Office issued a number of measures to address it. As of Monday (Oct 11) the combination of different arrangements for one mass event will be banned. When entering a mass event, it will be obligatory to choose specific hygienic arrangements, put a notice in a visible place and ensure entry to the event premises only to participants in the chosen arrangements (basic; OTP mode - vaccinated, tested negative or recovered from COVID-19; completely vaccinated). The length of the quarantine after entering Slovakia will be reduced from 14 to ten days if its course is asymptomatic. This decree comes into force on October 15. The quarantine can also be terminated by a negative result of a PCR test performed on the fifth day at the earliest. The quarantine does not apply to fully vaccinated persons.
