Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) on Thursday called on the public to observe anti-pandemic measures, pointing to the influx of patients currently faced by hospitals in the country and the heavy workload of healthcare workers. Addressing those who don't want to have themselves vaccinated against COVID-19, the premier stated that they should wear face masks. "The situation concerning the pandemic in Slovakia is getting worse. This isn't unexpected news. We anticipated this not only because of the situation in other countries, but also because of the low vaccination rate [in Slovakia]," said Heger, adding that more than 80 percent of those who are currently in hospital with COVID-19 are unvaccinated. On Thursday, PCR tests showed 1, 451 positive results. The number of hospitalized has increased by 34. Currently there are 787 patients in hospitals due to COVID-19.
