The head of Slovak diplomacy Ivan Korcok (an SaS nominee) stated following a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto on Tuesday that Slovakia is determined to do its utmost for the sake of its ties with Hungary. He added, however, that activities on the Bratislava-Budapest axis should be carried out based on pre-agreed conditions and that the shared history of the two countries should be discussed primarily by historians or politicians.
"This is in the interests of our relations," remarked Korcok, arguing that Hungary and Slovakia should make full use of the 1995 Treaty on Good-neighbourly Relations and Friendly Cooperation. As for the issue of joint history, the ministers concurred that history cannot be erased and should be accepted.
