At the end of May, Bratislava city has 30 fewer advertising billboards and road-side moving marketing displays. This stems from an agreement made between the city of Bratislava and private advertising companies, says spokesperson for the mayor’s office Ľubomír Andrassy.
As part of a plan to improve the image of the city centre, a number of advertising mediums were removed from around the Presidential Palace, the Memorial of the Slovak National Uprising, and the historic Slovak National Theatre. Ahead of the 2014 tourist season the city has also instated almost 4,000 perennials and shrubs in three central town squares at a total cost of €29,000. This follows on from last year where the city planted 122 trees, which replaced 21 forms of media advertising.
