Prime Minister Eduard Heger met with his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens on Thursday. Heger confirmed later on Facebook that the talks had met his expectations and that the restart of mutual ties between Athens and Bratislava had been a success. In August, Slovakia sent 75 firefighters and 30 vehicles to Greece, an unprecedented amount of aid in Slovak history. Aside from bilateral issues, the premiers also touched on climate change, cooperation in tourism and the protection of the common European border in Greece.
Also on Thursday, Prime Minister Eduard Heger met Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou to discuss the standing of women in society and the particularly difficult standing of women and girls in Afghanistan in the wake of the unexpected rise of the Taliban movement in mid-August.
