The Slovak President Zuzana Caputova thinks that the tension currently polarising society must be calmed down on a number of fronts. Speaking on Wednesday, the head of state finds attacks against health personnel, tasked with saving lives, unacceptable and absurd. Earlier this week, the President met with representatives of the coalition and opposition in a series of talks to attempt to defuse the tension stemming from problems she had identified in her recent State of the Republic Address. The President warned that the manner in which politicians communicate exacerbates the situation by stirring up passions. "Every country in every era needs a stable government. If they (parties) want to govern, it's necessary for them to send out a clear signal of stability. We can't face the drama of having one or other coalition partner threaten to leave every week," the President said about the coalition. As for the opposition, Caputova warned of the consequences of instigating hatred within society.
