Head of SNP Museum in Banska Bystrica dismissed

Culture Minister Natalia Milanova (OLaNO) met with Slovak National Uprising Museum director Stanislav Micev in Banska Bystrica on Monday to inform him that he's being dismissed from his post as of September 30. Milanova claimed that Micev made a number of missteps, which forced her hand. According to the ministry, the SNP Museum must be headed by a person who can ensure that the institution is run properly and in full compliance with all provisions of the law and internal norms. Seeing as the museum falls under the remit of the ministry, its director is also obligated to implement the decisions made by the ministry.

"The current management, unfortunately, hasn't been doing so and there were also a couple of missteps, which is why the ministry was forced to make this decision," added Vicianova.

"I expected this, knew it would come," Micev told TASR in response to his ousting from the post on Monday. According to Micev, his meeting with the minister on Monday was terse, factual and without any emotions. "I'm a vehement opponent of measures proposed by the Culture Ministry and the delimitation that divides our SNP Museum into several parts," said Micev. He has headed the SNP Museum since 2006.
