Interior Minister Roman Mikulec appointed Štefan Hamran as interim Police Corps President on Monday. "He's an experienced and internationally renowned expert, who currently also serves as commander of the Special Task Force known as Lynx Commando," stated Mikulec.
Hamran is replacing Peter Kovařík, who was appointed to the post only in January 2021. Kovařík tendered his resignation and left the post on September 15, after the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor's Office pressed charges against him of misuse of a public official's powers and obstruction of justice.
