WHO Exec Board with Slovak on board

For the first time in history, Slovakia will be represented on the Executive Board of the World Health Organisation (WHO). Slovak professor Jozef Suvada will take up a post on the board in May 2022. The Slovak Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva reported this on its Facebook account on Wednesday, referring to a statement by the WHO Regional Committee for Europe. Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korcok (an SaS nominee) noted in this regard that this "will be the first-ever three-year mandate of the Slovak Republic in this important body". According to him, Slovakia is ready to help the organisation fight the coronavirus pandemic and ensure "a healthier and sustainable future for everyone".

The WHO Executive Board consists of 34 health experts from around the world. Its main task is to draw up an agenda and act on decisions made by the top WHO body - the World Health Assembly. At the same time, the board operates as the main managing body of the organisation between its sessions.
