Earlier this week Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ingrid Brocková confirmed the promise that Slovakia would provide financial assistance of 500 thousand euros to the UN, to help solve the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the country is at risk of a humanitarian catastrophe. "The fight against terrorism must be the responsibility of the Afghan government. At the same time, I would like to confirm our promise that Slovakia will provide financial assistance of 500 thousand euros, which UN specialized agencies will use to solve the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan," said Ingrid Brocková. She also underlined the need to respect human rights in the country, including the rights of women, children and minorities.
