Survey: Slovaks prefer shorter stays for vacationing in Slovakia

When Slovaks decide to go on holiday in Slovakia, they prefer shorter stays in the form of prolonged weekends and visits to wellness centres and aqua parks, according to a survey carried out by TNS Slovakia agency. “In the past year, two-thirds of respondents took trips across Slovakia,” Vladimira Buncakova of TNS told TASR news agency on Sunday.

More than half or 55 % of respondents prefer shorter stays in the form of prolonged weekends. Slovaks use one-day visits for sightseeing, going to culture events or zoos. Weekend stays are mostly dedicated to relaxation in wellness facilities, saunas and spas. Week-long stays are mostly organised for recreational tourism, such as skiing for example. The most attractive destination to Slovaks is the High Tatras mountain range, professed by 71 percent of respondents, followed up by the Low Tatras and Bojnice (approximately half of respondents, respectively).
