Six For the People MPs centered around Justice Minister Maria Kolikova (For the People) are set to leave both the party and its caucus and join the caucus of the coalition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party, SaS head Richard Sulik announced at a joint press conference with the For the People MPs on Wednesday. This move means that For the People caucus will have to be formally dissolved, as it wont have enough MPs to operate.
The split for the People's Party worsened after the government crisis, when several members expressed dissatisfaction with the party leadership and the actions of their leader Veronika Remišová. They demanded the convening of an extraordinary assembly and a change of leadership. However, the assembly did not take place and differences of opinion resulted in the formation of a faction around Kolíková and their subsequent departure.
