The main trial of former prosecutor-general (PG) Dobroslav Trnka regarding the Gorilla case continued into its second day at Bratislava I District Court on Tuesday. Former PG Jaromir Cižnar is the first to testify on Tuesday. He refused to comment on the case for the media before the trial, saying he would first testify in court.
Dobroslav Trnka faces charges of misusing a public official's powers. According to the investigator, as prosecutor-general, Dobroslav Trnka acquired from entrepreneur Marian Kočner an audio recording made by the Slovak secret service during an intelligence operation nicknamed 'Gorilla'. The recording included wiretapped conversations between politicians, state representatives and businessmen on kickbacks related to privatisation.
According to the charges, despite being aware of extensive corruption, Dobroslav Trnka. decided not to submit the recording to law enforcement and instead kept it with the aim of seeking material profit for himself and Marian Kočner.
