The organizers of the Slovak part of the European Handball Championship 2022 will allow only vaccinated spectators to enter the matches in Bratislava and Košice, Jaroslav Holeša, president of the Slovak Handball Association (SZH), said on Tuesday. The championship will take place from 13 to 30 January in Slovakia and Hungary.
" The currently valid decree allows us to have the full capacity of the halls. In addition, it is large an international event during which we welcome teams from twelve countries and want it to be safe for all participants, "said Holeša. The same regime will apply in the venues of the European Championships in Hungary.
Slovaks will meet Norway, Russia and Lithuania in the basic F-group in the Steel Arena in Košice, and the D-group with Germany, Austria, Belarus and Poland will be played at the Ondrej Nepela Stadium in Bratislava, as well as the E-group, which includes Spain, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On Tuesday, the Slovak organizers launched the sale of day tickets, so far tickets have only been sold in packages. Tickets for two matches of the basic groups in one day will cost from €29 to € 49 and for the upper stage in Bratislava from €59 to €79.
For the second time in history, 24 participants will present themselves at the European Championship. The draw divided them into six groups of four, the first two teams from each advancing. The two six-member quarter-final groups will then be hosted by Budapest and Bratislava; The tournament will culminate in the final duels in Budapest. A total of 65 meetings will be on the agenda - 30 in Slovakia and 35 in Hungary.
