Greek Ambassador to Slovakia Georgios Dimitriadis on Thursday met the Slovak firefighters who successfully combated the extensive fires that ravaged the Greek island of Evia recently.
The ambassador thanked them for their selfless dedication and professional performance. A group of 75 Slovak firefighters along with 30 pieces of equipment was dispatched to Greece in mid-August to help the country with fires that were jeopardising the region centred around the village of Avgaria located in the north of the island of Evia. The team managed to bring the flames under control and protected roads and strategic structures.
