Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok (SaS nominee) awarded personalities successful in representing Slovakia abroad on Thursday on the occasion of the Slovak Diplomacy Day. The highest honour, the Medal of Merit for Slovak Diplomacy, was granted to former Foreign Minister and MEP Eduard Kukan. "It was Minister Kukan who was there when the crucial decisions were made that enabled our accession to the EU and NATO. Today, these organizations form the basic pillars of our foreign policy and guarantee Slovakia's security and prosperity of," stated Minister Ivan Korčok. He presented the Goodwill Envoy Award for Slovaks living and working abroad to soprano diva Edita Gruberova, the president of a hotel chain Henry Kallan and Professor of Economy Lubos Pastor.
