State prepares contract for European Labour Authority seat in Bratislava

Slovakia will seek to provide a seat for the European Labour Authority in the capital, TASR learnt from the agreement between the host country and the agency. The Government at its meeting on Wednesday approved the agreement, however, before ratification; the agreement must also be approved by the parliament. In terms of personal scope, the contract will apply to the European Labour Authority as a body of the European Union with legal subjectivity, its 144 employees and their family members, as well as other people involved in carrying out the agency's tasks. The contract speaks about the provision of a suitable location for the agency in Bratislava and states that the European Labour Authority will be exempt as far as possible from value added tax (VAT) and other indirect taxes on local purchases of goods and services for official use (if the amount exceeds €70).
