Slovakia will donate 60,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses to Ukraine and 10,000 doses from the same producer to Montenegro, according to the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry. Thus the the country will join efforts by the European Union and its member states to support third countries in combating COVID-19. Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok (a Freedom and Solidarity/SaS nominee) stated that by taking this step Slovakia is expressing solidarity with important foreign partners and contributing to the struggle against COVID-19 at the global level. "I consider vaccination to be the most effective way of combating the pandemic, and it's important that vaccines are available where they are most needed at the moment," he said.
