Slovakia taking part in Crimea Platform Summit

On Monday, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger is taking part in the inaugural summit of the Crimea Platform, initiated by Ukraine and its President Volodymyr Zelensky. The main objective of the platform is to attain the end of the Russian occupation of Crimea and restore Ukraine's sovereignty over the peninsula.

The summit is symbolically taking place on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of an independent Ukraine. "On August 23rd, 44 countries and international organizations, including 14 heads of state, government, and the European Union, will become the founders of the Crimea Platform," said Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba last week.

The platform will operate on several levels: heads of state and government, foreign affairs ministers, inter-parliamentary cooperation and a network of experts. "With his participation at the summit, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger is confirming the Slovak Republic's longstanding support for Ukraine and its territorial integrity," the Government Office stated.
