Ryanair is opening up more flights from Košice, Karolina Linhartová of Košice Airport told TASR press agency on Monday, adding that the carrier will start flying to Dublin and Vienna at the end of October, with its first flight from Košice to Dublin scheduled for October 31. The flights will be operated twice a week by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. As for the route from Košice to Vienna, the first flight is scheduled for November 1. Flights will be operated by Ryanair twice a week with the same aircraft.
"We're very pleased to have been able to agree in a short time with our long-term business partner, Ryanair, especially on the Dublin route, which has long been involved in our strategic plans and negotiations with airlines," said Košice Airport director Michael Tmej, adding that this route has been in great demand for a long time and hasn't operated from eastern Slovakia since 2008. Ryanair currently flies from Košice to Prague, Liverpool and London-Stansted Airport. A direct flight from Košice to Vienna is currently operated by Austrian Airlines. Wizz Air can take passengers to London-Luton and Doncaster Sheffield airports, while Air Explore offers flights from Košice to Zadar, Croatia.
