'Dolce Vitaj' Italian culture festival begins in June

Concerts, exhibitions, Italian film screenings as well as an Italian market will all be part of this year's 'Dolce Vitaj' Italian culture festival which will be held in locations across Slovakia throughout June and July.

Italian Ambassador to Slovakia Roberto Martini at a meeting with journalists on Wednesday stressed the importance of bilateral co-operation between the two countries in the field of culture as well as in other areas. According to him, the 2014 Italian festival comes at a time of important events – with Slovakia celebrating ten years in the European Union and Italy taking over the six-month rotating presidency of the Council of the EU as of July 1. As stated by Italian Cultural Institute director Antonio Grande, the Hall of Mirrors of the Primatial Palace will see a performance by famous Italian soprano Cristina Ferri on the first day of the festival (June 3). On the same day, the Slovak capital will also host an exhibition by Italian photographer Lucia Gardin. Various jazz and classical music concerts, film-screenings, opera performances and culinary events will also take place in June.
