Employment up in communications services, down in accommodation

Employment increased year-on-year (y-o-y) only in information and communications services and in selected market services in June 2021, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Thursday. Employment in information and communications services in June rose by 3.6 percent y-o-y, while in selected market services it grew by 2.2 percent. Meanwhile, it fell most significantly in accommodation - by 6 percent. Meanwhile, all sectors in Slovakia posted growth in average nominal monthly salaries y-o-y in June, with the most noticeable growth of almost 30 percent seen in accommodation, the Statistics Office adding that salaries in this sector were among the lowest, however. Two-digit growth in average nominal monthly salaries was also reported in the sale and repair of motor vehicles, in pubs and restaurants, in selected market services and in industrial manufacturing.
