The impact of climate change is already having consequences for long-term assets and infrastructure, such as railways, bridges and power plants, while these effects will intensify. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare investments in infrastructure for a climate-neutral and climate-resilient future, head of the Association of Slovak Construction Entrepreneurs Pavol Kováčik told TASR in connection with the new technical guideline on the resilience of infrastructure projects to climate change for 2021-2027, published by the European Commission (EC) at the end of July. "Climate resilience is a process that integrates measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change into the development of infrastructure projects," said Kováčik. He added that the resilience of new infrastructure projects to climate change should be ensured through appropriate adaptation measures based on a climate risk assessment.
