A new COVID automaton was adopted by the Government unanimously on Tuesday with minimal technical modifications, Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky said following a Cabinet meeting on the same day.
The new COVID automaton uses five colours, representing the level of risk in individual districts - green (monitoring), orange (alert), red (first-degree warning), dark red (second-degree warning) and black (third-degree warning). In addition to the number of infected people within the district, the vaccination rate among people over 50 will be taken into account when determining the district's colour, instead of the number of people in hospital and the reproduction number. The more vaccinated over-50s a district has, the higher the chance that it will have a better colour with more moderate measures, despite the total number of infected.
As of Monday (August 16), nine districts will be coloured orange (Gelnica, Kosice I-IV, Kosice-okolie, Poprad, Spisska Nova Ves and Stara Lubovna) in the new COVID-automaton with all other districts remaining green.
