Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Korčok on Monday voiced support for the citizens of Belarus on the occasion of the first anniversary of last year's manipulated presidential election, the Foreign Affairs Ministry's communications department announced on the same day. "We're calling on the Belarusian authorities to put an immediate end to the persecution of their own citizens, to release political prisoners and to restore respect for fundamental human rights, freedoms and international commitments," said the Slovak ministry. According to the ministry, Belarus needs a society-wide dialogue that will result in free presidential elections held in line with international standards.
