This year's July was the hottest in Slovakia since at least 1951 and the second hottest in Europe since at least 1981, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Office (SHMU) reported in its analysis on Friday. This ranking was particularly due to extremely high values in minimum day temperatures of air. Deviations from the monthly air temperature average stood mostly from +2.5 to +3.5 degrees Celsius. The average monthly air temperature in July recorded by the majority of meteorological stations ranged between 22-24 degrees Celsius. An absolute maximum air temperature of 39 degrees Celsius was measured in Muzla on July 8. "It is the highest recorded air temperature in Slovakia yet this summer," claimed the SHMU.
