President pardons man convicted of marijuana possession

President Zuzana Čaputová granted pardons to three people on Monday, including a 56-year-old man who had been sentenced to ten years for possessing marijuana. The president pardoned him for the remainder of his sentence, which stood at eight years, on condition that he doesn't commit any crime for the next two years.

A 29-year-old woman who was sentenced to one year for failing to pay alimony was also pardoned. The woman is a mother of four, with the youngest child only 11 months old. The president pardoned her for the remainder of her sentence, which stood at 11 months, on condition that she doesn't commit any deliberate crime for one year.

The third pardoned individual was a 24-year-old foreign woman, also the mother of a young child, who was sentenced to three months for theft. In order to ensure that the child is given proper care, the president pardoned her for the remainder of her prison sentence on condition that she doesn't commit an intentional offence for six months.
