September parliamentary session to see no-confidence vote on Interior Minister

Coalition 'We Are Family' party said it had serious reservations regarding Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OĽaNO) and Police Corps president Peter Kovařík remaining in office. 'We Are Family' caucus chair Peter Pčolinský thinks that Kovařík and Mikulec should resign. The original intention to oust the Interior Minister came from the opposition SMER-SD party. Among other things, Smer-SD criticises Mikulec's recent decision to suspend the activities of the investigator who heads the team at the Internal Affairs Inspectorate that is investigating suspected abuse of power by members of the National Crime Agency. The senior coalition OĽaNO party sees another attempt to oust Interior Minister Roman Mikulec only as "a manifestation of the enormous fear of people who are scared of political and criminal responsibility". The vote of no confidence in Interior Minister Roman Mikulec will take place at the next regular parliamentary session due to be held in September. The caucus did not reach a sufficient quorum on Monday.
