Foreign Minister: Nord Stream 2 highlights strategic importance of Ukraine

According to Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok, the joint agreement between the USA and Germany in the case of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline confirms the strategic importance of Ukraine for security of Slovakia and the whole Europe. The head of the Slovak diplomacy praised the strong support of Germany and United States for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the announced steps to guarantee the energy security of Central and Eastern Europe. "This agreement represents an important commitment and political signal in the resumption of transatlantic cooperation, which is a fundamental security interest of the Slovak Republic," he said. Slovak Foreign Minister expects the US and Germany to make an impact in maintaining the transit of sufficient gas through Ukraine in the future.
