Disposal experts defuse WW2-era bomb near Rusovce

A WW2-era bomb found earlier on Tuesday at a construction site in the centre of Bratislava was moved to a restricted area owned by the Interior Ministry near the borough of Rusovce and safely defused. The bomb was found at 8 a.m. during a pyrotechnical survey at a construction site on Chalupkova Street. Buildings in the vicinity of Chalupkova Street in Bratislava as well as the nearby Mlynske nivy bus station were evacuated following the surprising find. In the meantime, it's been determined that the bomb originates from WWII, most probably from June 1944 when US bombers attacked the Apollo refinery and other strategic targets in Bratislava.
