Over the course of the past two weeks, police in Košice region found 31 drivers out of 100 were driving under the influence, with a more than one part per million of alcohol on their breath, according to Košice police spokesperson Jana Mesarová. Slovakia has zero tolerance for driving under the influence. The penalty for driving under the influence with less than one part per million of alcohol is a fine between €150 and €800 and a driving licence suspension for up to 3 years. Those who exceed this limit can be subject to criminal procedure and even risk prison sentence. More officers will be tasked with carrying out alcohol checks on roads in the Košice region over the summer.
