Remanded ex-investigator apologises to prosecutors

Former National Crime Agency (NAKA) investigator Marián Kučerka who was remanded in custody as part of Operations Judas and Purgatory, took back his words that he would have been under pressure from the prosecutors of the Special Prosecutor's Office (USP). "I sincerely regret that on November 16, 2020 I wrote a statement that USP prosecutors Michal Šurek and Ondrej Repa put psychological and physical pressure on me during our meeting at USP on November 9, 2020. These facts are not based on the truth. I apologise to them for my human failure, caused by the fear for my future fate," stated Kučerka in his apology. Opposition Smer-SD party leader Robert Fico called the apology "as trustworthy as water in a wicker basket", adding he has no doubts that the two dictated it to him.
