On Monday, a week-long 100-kilometre march called 'In the Footsteps of Hidden Children' begins for its second year in Vrútky (Žilina region), with Israeli Ambassador to Slovakia Boaz Modai in attendance. The event, organised by NGO Post Bellum, commemorates the suffering of children and entire families who were forced to hide from persecution resulting from the Jewish Code, which was adopted by the wartime fascist Slovak state (1939-45).
"The route of the march, which runs between Vrútky to Čierny Balog [Banska Bystrica region], was inspired by the life story of Pavel Eli Vag, his sister Ester and another family," said the organisers.
