Thunderstorms overnight caused power blackouts in central Slovakia, leaving more than 30,000 households without electricity for periods of more than three minutes, energy utility Stredoslovenska Distribucna (SSD) spokesperson Miroslav Gejdos reported on Thursday. Over 9,000 households are still cut off from electricity supplies.
The most seriously hit districts were Rimavska Sobota and Poltar (both Banska Bystrica region), with the Liptov and the Povazie areas also badly affected.
